Reply to "Firecrackers"

"If you plan to be a reforming prince, you should be ready to hurt traditions."

This is what I've thought after reading the "Firecrackers". We are used to welcome new year using these fireworks. We are left to believe that this will bring good luck or fortune for us this coming year. We also serve various foods and invite our relative to come for us. These are the norms, these are the cultures. It is really hard to remove this culture from us. What's Philippine New Year without firecrackers?
I'm not against the campaign on preventing the firecrackers, but it will be really hard to implement this rule. It is better to propose some sort of information-giving materials on the proper way of handling firecrackers. Banning firecrackers might be the best way to prevent accidents, but we can still opt for other choices without hurting our traditions.
